Answering the Call: Help Revive Hope in Kenya
After a delightful anniversary trip to Alaska, we return to a pressing need for assistance. Seventeen years ago, alongside local communities in Kenya, we built an orphanage as a refuge for children who lost their parents during tribal conflicts. This project has far exceeded its initial aims, developing a petrol station to support the orphanage and school while uplifting families in distress.
The Impact of Crisis on Everyday Life
Kenya faces ongoing adversity, where crises perpetuate struggle and fear among the populace. Recently, our petrol station, a vital lifeline for the orphanage, fell under scrutiny for unpaid taxes. This unexpected blow came as the government increased enforcement on businesses, leaving many with overwhelming fines. While we are grateful that our owed tax is significantly less than others, the facility's imminent auction looms unless we can raise $22,328 to settle the debt and reopen the petrol station.

Through this initiative, we directly aid not only the children but also extend our support to entire families struggling for food and shelter. Michael, a dedicated local worker, has shared how vital these funds are in providing essentials like food, medication, and overall assistance in restoring dignity to those struggling under oppressive conditions. Our aim is not just to sustain these communities but to lift them out of despair and into a space where they can thrive collectively.
